Reopened beaches safe to swim - eThekwini
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Municipality says while it's safe to swim at the
13 beaches reopened over the weekend, the city will continue to
collect and test water samples.
Bathers are able to visit beaches, including Addington, uShaka Beach, Amanzimtoti Main and Umgababa.
"We continue to monitor water quality and so far the results from the beaches that are closed indicated that they are to remain closed in the interest of public safety," the municipality's Msawakhe Mayisela says.
He says eThekwini and Ansteys are among the beaches that remain closed.

"This also includes Umhlanga Beach, which was impacted by a blockage at Macausland pump station. The blockage has since been removed but water quality is still not at acceptable levels."
eThekwini last month announced the closure of over a dozen beaches after high levels of E-coli were detected in the water.
