Rat poison claims lives of three siblings in Kaalfontein
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Three siblings have died after apparently eating meat sprinkled with rat poison.

The Grade 1 boy and Grade 2 girl attended Kaalfontein Primary School in Midrand.
The third sibling was a one year old.
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says a grandparent of the three children allegedly sprinkled meat with rat poison and placed the container on top of the refrigerator with an intention to entrap rats in the house.
"According to information at our disposal, while children were at school, the grandparent of the three deceased children sprinkled meat with rat poison and placed the container on top of the refrigerator with an intention to, later at night, entrap rats in the house and left for church.
"Upon arrival from church, the grandparent found the children watching TV, until she realised that the container she left on top of the refrigerator was now in the sink."
The children were given milk after complaining of stomach cramps, and later rushed to a medical facility.
"When probing the situation, they confirmed that they gained access to the poisoned meat and ate it,” says Mabona.
