Ramaphosa warns against political rhetoric

He was speaking on the second day of Cosatu's Central Committee meeting in Pretoria.

He has given a stern warning about state capture and the struggle for power.

Ramaphosa received a warm reception from Cosatu delegates, who broke out in song , singing that the time has come for President Jacob Zuma to go.

The deputy president says radical transformation should focus on the socio-economic impact and not just be a slogan.

"This concept can't simply be a reckless rhetoric and be put out as an empty promise that is intended to mask and to hide and so sweep under the carpet the plunder of our resources," says Ramaphosa.

"Sometimes when you listen to it, you get a sense that there is a hidden agenda that other people have when they chant this whole concept of radical economic transformation."

He says economic transformation must aim to fix the structural problems facing the economy.

"It should not be a process through which we are just going to focus on certain individuals, certain families to line their pockets through using this concept of radical economic transformation."
