Ramaphosa ‘perplexed’ by US Congress bill targeting SA
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
President Cyril Ramaphosa says he does not understand why the US Congress is considering a bill that could see it impose sanctions on some ANC leaders.

The US House Foreign Affairs Committee approved the bill on Tuesday, with US lawmakers raising concerns about South Africa's strong ties with Russia, China and Iran.
The bill, introduced by Republican Congressman Ronny Jackson, points to several actions by the South African government that have angered the US.
These include the case against Israel at the International Court of Justice and Pretoria's stance on Taiwan.
But not everyone on the committee supports the bill.
International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola reposted a video on X of Democratic Representative Jonathan Jackson criticising the move and accusing the Republicans of hypocrisy.
Ramaphosa spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the South African Investment Conference in Pretoria.
"Our bilateral dealings and engagements with the United States will continue, and we will talk about all manner of things, including precisely this issue and many others.
"We've got good diplomatic relations with the US and we want to enrich them and make them better, so we're very positive that the outcomes of our engagement with the United States will be comprehensive and all-encompassing so that we can return to good dealings with the United States."
