Ramaphosa backs KZN task team amid scandal
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised the work of the KZN political killings task team, calling it "tremendous."

The team has been at the centre of serious allegations by KZN top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.
He claims suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu disbanded the task team after officers uncovered a criminal syndicate had infiltrated the country's law enforcement and intelligence structures.
The team remains operational despite Mchunu's directive to disband last December.
Speaking to reporters in the Western Cape yesterday, Ramaphosa said the task team has been doing important work.
He added that the judicial commission of inquiry into Mkhwanazi’s allegations should conclude its work within a year.

"The killings then started coming down in KZN, the political killings. And I expect that this commission, whose terms of reference are now out will work very quickly and we've put clear timeframes, I would like a report within three months and another report within another three months. "
"So I'm looking at a period which is no more than a year, but this is a commission that everyone in the country would like to see quick answers coming from."
Meanwhile, suspended Deputy Police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya has filed an urgent application at the Pretoria High Court seeking reinstatement.
He was placed on a leave of absence after being accused by Mkhwanazi of obstructing justice and shielding politically connected suspects.
According to New24, Sibiya's urging the court to interdict National Police commissioner Fannie Masemola from instituting parallel actions against him.
