R2bn worth of illicit drugs discovered in Limpopo

The Hawks says they've uncovered ten clandestine drug laboratories in the country and made 34 arrests since the beginning of this year.

On Friday, four suspects, including a farm owner and two Mexican nationals, were arrested at a farm in Groblersdal, Limpopo.

A multimillion-rand clandestine laboratory and drugs worth R2 billion were discovered.
"The Hawks in Limpopo received information about suspicious activities taking place at the farm, which was then operationalised,” said Hawks spokesperson Katlego Mogale.
“Four properties were searched, and large quantities of chemicals used in the manufacturing of illicit drugs, including acetone as well as crystal meth, with an estimated street value of R2 billion, were recovered.”
