Professor Jannie Rossouw has been reacting to the NPA's announcement today that Finance Minister PravinGordhan will be charged with fraud.

 

Gordhan has been issued with summons - along with his former SARS colleagues, Ivan Pillay and Oupa Magashula.

The charge relates to the approval of the early retirement of Pillay, who was Gordhan’s deputy at SARS.

 

Rossouw says the announcement - just before the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement tabling on 26 October - couldn't have come at a worse time.
