This after a Grade-9 pupil was shot by a fellow learner while playing a game of Russian Roulette at the high school on Friday.

A number of other children witnessed the shooting.

Josephine Naicker is the chairperson of Stanmore’s governing body. She said the boy who underwent surgery on Friday night is in a stable condition.

"It's very important that we speak to our learners and we are aware of what they are going through. Remember, both of the pupils involved are classmates, or are from our school."

"As parents we totally denounce what has happened," she said.

Naicker added that the governing body’s discussed adding new safety measures at the school.
