Covid case leads to tests for 22 Tongaat party pupils

The KwaZulu-Natal Health Department says at least 22 pupils from a Tongaat school, who attended a party last week, are being tested after one of their peers contracted Covid-19.
Management at Belverton Secondary School says a Grade 12 pupil hosted a birthday party on Wednesday.
The school's governing body says 22 matric learners and a Grade 9 pupil attended the party on Youth Day.
They say that it was confirmed on Monday that one of them had tested positive for Covid-19 and began contact tracing.
The school has since been closed.

The governing body says everyone who attended the party, their siblings and any other pupils that shows symptoms must be tested before returning to school on Friday.
The school says the KwaZulu-Natal Health Department has set up a mobile clinic at the Belvedere Community Hall to do coronavirus tests.
