They're embarking on another national day of action on Tuesday after wage talks deadlocked weeks ago.

Public servants have been demanding pay increases of at least 6.5% -- or an amount linked to inflation.

Hundreds of workers will either take part in a go-slow or a work stoppage, with services at public hospitals, police stations and home affairs offices set to be affected.

In Pretoria, protesters will hold demonstrations outside the National Treasury offices.

Here in KZN, marchers will again gather at King Dinuzulu Park in Durban.

Meanwhile unions Cosatu, Fedusa and Saftu have slammed what they've called a misleading proposal from the government last week when the Department of Public Service and Administration said a final offer of 7.5% had been made.

Popcru’s Richard Mamabolo has accused the government of repackaging an earlier offer, saying not much has changed from the initial 3%.

"Workers are quite angry. In fact, they realise this when they got the increase into their accounts on the 17th that it was minimal.

“Before that our members and other union members had rejected the offer because it was below the inflation rate. So the members are looking forward to going to the streets."
