Public sector unions and govt resume wage talks
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Labour unions asking for a public sector wage hike say they are positive government will negotiate in good faith.

Negotiations resumed on Monday at the Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council.
Talks have deadlocked with government not wanting to budge from its 0% offer.
Unions are asking for a 7% increase.
Frikkie De Bruin, who is representing labour unions, says they are optimistic the employer will at least meet them halfway, starting at 4%.

He says should talks fail again, they will have no choice but to force government to listen.
"We are making progress slowly and we foresee probably by the end of this week - maybe early next week we will be able to have made better progress in trying to finalise this processing itself.
"Labour is prepared to calm down in terms of their demands. I am also waiting for them to start moving away from zero because employers also stayed on zero for some time and I do think somewhere in between parties will be able to meet one another."
