About 60 workers have taken to the streets.

They have been demonstrating over wage issues at the port entrance on Thursday morning.

Protest action also flared up at the harbour in Richards Bay.

Geraldine Stevens, who is with eThekwini metro police, says the demonstration in Durban's been peaceful so far.

"They want to block the entrance to the harbour at Quayside and at Victoria Embankment. However, at the moment the road is still open because the police have prevented them from doing so."
