Protecting children a daily commitment - Childline KZN

Childline KwaZulu-Natal says as the country marks the end of
Child Protection Week, it is urging people to remember that keeping children
safe is not a once-off campaign but a daily commitment.

The organisation's Adeshni Naicker joined a march in central Durban on Wednesday, calling for an end to child abuse.
"We have seen first-hand the growing need for stronger, more consistent protection of the most vulnerable amongst us. Children need safe homes, schools, and a society that speaks up when something is wrong."

She says the demonstration sent a powerful message about holding abusers accountable.
" As we move beyond this week, we encourage everyone from government to families, businesses, and individuals to keep child protection at the top of our national agenda. Every child deserves to grow up safe, loved, and heard. It takes a community to raise a child."
The Department of Social Development says the week aimed to raise awareness and highlight that protecting children from violence, exploitation, and abuse is not just a value, but a constitutional responsibility.
