Proteas supporters at World Cup remain hopeful

Some cricket fans are still confident the Proteas will advance to the knock-out stages of the ICC Cricket World Cup, but admit they will probably need to win all their remaining matches and hope some other results go their way.

South Africa's match against the West Indies was washed out yesterday, meaning the team remains winless after four matches.  

However, the 'no result' saw both the Proteas and Windies sharing the spoils. 

Faf du Plessis' men now have a single log point and find themselves holding down 9th place on the tournament table.

Some South African supporters who travelled to the Hampshire Bowl feel the Proteas got a bit lucky against the West Indies yesterday.

Hundreds of fans waited in the rain for play to resume, but it never happened. Despite not winning a single game from four outings, some fans at the stadium yesterday said they remain optimistic.  

"We will take the point and roll on from here. Honestly, it's not over until we lose another match. We probably have to win every game going forward," he said.

South Africa are in action again on Saturday when they take on Afghanistan in Cardiff.
