An investigation has been launched into a shooting incident at a KZN police station.

It's understood that a man walked into a community service centre in Richmond over the weekend, claiming that he needed help.
Officials allege that he grabbed the service pistol of one of the police officers.
A scuffle ensued and the female officer was shot.

It's alleged that the suspect then managed to grab the gun and shot and injured three more officers, before he was killed.
Nthabeleng Molefe, who's with police union Popcru, says the officers who were on duty have begun receiving trauma counseling.
Three counts of attempted murder have been opened for investigation.
"This is an unfortunate situation because it shows that our police stations are not safe. When the a person can come inside and attack police. We are calling on officers to be vigilant at all times."
