The principal of Pretoria High School for Girls has been placed on precautionary suspension for the next three months.

"The principal knew about this matter from last year and there was no action taken then," Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said at the school on Tuesday.
If follows the suspension of 12 matric pupils who are accused of having been part of WhatsApp were messages alleged to be racist were shared.
The girls will face a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday and and Wednesday.
Chiloane said it's unfortunate that eight of the suspended pupils are school prefects.
"He should understand that there is always repercussions for actions. Unfortunately you find yourself in a difficult spot because leaders are supposed to unite people and be accepting of everyone."
Chiloane also confirmed the department is investigating other teachers.
"We are going to ask them to report to the district. I am not going to mention names, but we are busy. We want to clean up this and I don't want to come back to Pretoria Girls and I hope I am the last MEC to come back for racial matters."
He said the school should have an academic plan in place to assist the suspended learners who are matric pupils.
The youth leagues of the ANC and the EFF in Gauteng demonstrated outside the school earlier, calling for the removal of the school's head.
