Pressure on Joburg officials after release of damning Usindiso report
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Pressure is mounting on Johannesburg city officials to determine who should be held responsible for the Usindiso fire tragedy.
Last year, 77 people, including women and children, died after a fire broke out in the five-storey building in the Joburg CBD.
A report was released on Sunday.
Justice Sisi Khampepe, who chaired the commission of inquiry, found that the city of Joburg and its property company should be held liable for the disastrous incident.
Khampepe says that the city failed to enforce its by-laws.

The National Freedom Party in KZN's Canaan Mdletshe has lauded the commission for compiling the report and providing recommendations.
"We want to see all the recommendations being implemented. We want to see people being arrested. We want to see people being held accountable. We want to see people go to jail if needs be."
