Postbank raises alarm on new SASSA scam
Updated | By Andile Tsotetsi
Postbank is warning social grant beneficiaries to beware of new fraud scams.

The bank says criminals posing as officials are tricking South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) cardholders into handing over cards and PINs, claiming they need to be fixed.
Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako says scammers have been visiting beneficiaries at their homes.
" What the scammers want to do is get the contact details of the beneficiaries, as well as the pin numbers of the card, which is information that is critical to protect the beneficiaries."

Diako says beneficiaries should never share their PINs with anyone.
He's also urged cardholders to report any suspicious visits.
"If you find yourself in a situation where you have provided that information, we ask that you contact Postbank so that we can block your card and the beneficiaries will not be able to transact on it. You can contact us on 0800 53 54 55 or you can send an email to [email protected]."
