Updated | By Portia Cele
As the rand plunges to a three-week low following the news Minister Pravin Gordhan must make an appearance before the Hawks, we're asking you - will this affect SA's credit rating?
The Hawks are looking into an alleged SARS tax surveillance unit - established while Gordhan was commissioner at the revenue service.
The rand, currently trading at R14.02 to the dollar, had fallen nearly 3.41% when the news broke.
Analysts say this is a sign of policy and political instability while the DA's Shadow Finance Minister says this would shatter investor confidence.
Meanwhile, the country's credit ratings were retained in June - with the National Treasury being headed by Gordhan.
According to New24 - Ratings Agency, Standard and Poor's stated that there remains concerns about economic growth and warned ratings could be lowered by year-end or if policy measures do not improve the state of the economy.
