Police say residents from the Nhlungwane and Ezimangweni areas held a march yesterday to protest against crime.
About 200 people then targeted a home in the Nhlungwane area where they believed three criminals were living.
SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the mob found three men - who are siblings - and two women at the house.
"They then started assaulting them - one of the siblings managed to escape from that crowd. A third crowd assaulted those left behind - they wanted to know where they kept the stolen goods. So they took them to a nearby house where a flat-screen TV was recovered. Through the investigation, it was discovered a house robbery case was opened in February," she said.
Police are urging communities not to take the law into their own hands.
