Police probing attempted hit on uMsinga's former mayor
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Police are searching for gunmen linked to an attempted hit on uMsinga’s former mayor and his bodyguard.
Officials say 50-year-old Mletheni Ndlovu and his protector escaped a possible assassination attempt in the Mkhuphula area on Friday night.
Ndlovu was recently recalled by the IFP as mayor of the Midlands town.
The recall followed his and his bodyguard's arrest for possession of an illegal firearm.
Ndlovu was previously accused of being behind the murder of IFP councillor Siyanda Magubane in September last year, but was later cleared by the organisation.
