Police are probing the circumstances under which a construction worker was buried alive in Ntuzuma, north of Durban, this week.

Police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says their Search and Rescue Unit was sent to recover the body on Wednesday.
"The 26-year-old man was allegedly buried by sand while he was digging trenches for a sewer pipe," she said.
In a separate incident, an inquest docket has been opened at the Phoenix Police Station after a body was found next to a local stream.
She says the man was believed to be in his 30s. He was found on the banks of a stream near the Phoenix Highway and Eastbury Drive, north of Durban.
"He had no injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated," said Gwala.
