Investigations are underway into the cause of the devastating fire at the Edith Benson Children's Home in Sherwood.
Some 57 children from the ages of 3-months to 6-years were evacuated safely from the Sherwood home on Tuesday night.
The police's Thembeka Mbhele says experts are trying to establish what sparked the blaze.
"For now, the cause of the fire is still unknown and being investigated," said Mbhele.
The children are now being cared for by four separate facilities in eThekwini.
