We are ready for the march: Police Minister
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula says officers are ready to deal with any eventuality during today's National Day of Action in Pretoria.
Nine opposition parties are expected to descend onto the city, calling for President Jacob Zuma to step down.
The march will start at Church Square and end at the Union Buildings. More than 10 000 members from nine opposition parties including the Inkhata Freedom Party, Democratic Alliance, United Democratic Movement, Economic Freedom Fighters and Congress of the People are expected to take part.
Minister Mbalula says they won't tolerate any violence.

"Protest organisers must ensure that the protest actions are peaceful and do not infringe on the rights of others. Destruction of property and intimidation will be acted upon," the minister says.
Acting National Police Commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane says they aren't aware of any counter-marches, but will be ready should any arise.
"Any counter-march that becomes a reality, we will do what we are supposed to be doing since our policing is not only focussed on legal marches, but illegal marches as well."
