Phoenix residents protest over power, water outages
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Endless power and water outages sent frustrated Phoenix residents to the streets in protest on Wednesday morning.

Community members have set tyres and debris alight on roads in Ward 52.
Resident Randy Bharath says they haven't had power for ten days, and now their water supply's been turned off.
"A couple of protests have started from last week and this has turned into a big thing. The people have blocked off the mail roads - people that need to g to work cannot get to work. People want their voices to be heard."

Fernham, Industrial Park, Westham, Lenham, and Longbury near the Phoenix Highway and Cardham and Hexham Drive intersection are just some of the routes affected.
Bharath says the situation became worse after the start of the municipal workers' strike.
"Everybody has got rights in this country, but the people (who) are fighting for the increases have infringed the rights of the very same people that literally pay their salaries."
Police are on the scene.
