A Phoenix resident who came under attack at one of the roadblocks near the Phoenix Highway during the July unrest has recalled how he was called the K-word, whilst his car was getting vandalised.
"They smashed the front windscreen then they said ‘move go away you K%ff*r’. They mentioned all the insults, this is our area what are you doing here in Phoenix.
Thulani Mseleku was one of the witnesses that shared his testimony at day two of the SA Human Rights Commission hearings on Tuesday
The commission is looking into the violent looting and unrest that took place in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal in July.

Fearing for his life, Mseleku says after his experience at the fourth roadblock he knew he had to rush to the Phoenix police station for help and safety.
However, he bumped into more trouble at another roadblock on his way there.
"The brick that was thrown came through the car and the vehicle lost control but it did not capsize. I drove straight to the police station so when I reached the police station gates the vehicle switched off from the damage."
