Phoenix man shot during home invasion
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A Phoenix man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot during what is believed to have been a robbery at his Brookdale home.
Reports from the scene are that the armed assailants broke into the property along Wheatbrook Avenue on Thursday night.
"On arrival on scene, a 61-year-old man was found in a critical condition, having sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen," says Emer-G-Med's Kyle Van Reenen.
"Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize him before he was placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist him with breathing, and transported rapidly to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
"Reports from the scene allege that the man was confronted by armed suspects during a house robbery resulting in the shooting, however the local authorities will investigate accordingly."
