Pradyumna and Prishni Harisuran suffered from smoke inhalation when their Clayfield home went up in flames on Sunday.

The cause of the blaze is being investigated.

The family spokesperson, Kevin Singh, described his cousins as humble and a pillar of strength for their widowed mother.

"Prishni, she just turned 30 a week ago. She was such a wonderful child, very humble, very pleasant, and bubbly. She had all the time for her mother in the world," said Singh.

"Pradyumna, he was 34. He would have been 35 this year. He was also a quiet, humble person, very polite. You'll never hear him raise his voice."

Singh said the brother and sister were the family's breadwinners.

"The dad passed away just less than a year ago, and the two children were in the process of trying to do the house up because they were planning for his one-year ceremony. We normally do a one-year ceremony when we lose somebody.

"So, they were actually planning for his one-year ceremony in two weeks’ time, and then this tragic incident had to happen."

A joint funeral will be held for the siblings on Wednesday afternoon.
