Petroleum strike reaches day 5
Updated | By Anelisa Khubeka
The strike by refinery and depot workers began on Thursday after wage negotiations deadlocked.
Members have rejected the 7% wage increase offer by the National Petroleum Employers' Association.
They're demanding a 9% pay hike for 2016.
The union's Clement Chitja says they received a phone call from the employer on Thursday asking if the union was still not willing to accept the 7% increase.
"If they want to engage on the issue, there's a formal arrangement for a meeting where we can all engage.
"The strike is going to be intensified because our assessment has revealed also that there are some elements where our mobilisation has not reached full force," he said.
