Pensions lost for some implicated in corruption: SIU
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The Special Investigating Unit insists it's making progress in efforts to clamp down on corruption.

The head of the investigating unit, Andy Mothibi, says in some cases, officials have tried to evade disciplinary hearings by tendering their resignations before investigations are finalised.
Mothibi, who was speaking at a seminar on Wednesday, says every effort is being made to hold these individuals accountable.

" Those who are finding themselves on the wrong side and they are public servants, they resign before disciplinary processes. Immediately [when] we become aware, we institute proceedings to freeze [their] pension.
“If you work 15 [or] 20 years and you lose your pension, that is very serious and it affects you. It affects your family. That part has, to a large extent, indicated to those state officials that we'll never just [let them] get away even though they resign. We will still pursue them.”
