The network hosted a panel discussion yesterday on building strong links to fight racism globally.

Dawie Jacobs, who is with civil society organization Group of 10, says people can't move forward without acknowledging the past.

"We are not being stuck in the past; we are also looking forward. My philosophy is that we must look back while we are moving forward. Our cars have a rearview mirror of what is behind us, but we have five gears to take us forward. The past informs our future."
