Parly Committee takes Road Accident Benefit Bill hearings to KZN
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Parliament's Transport Portfolio Committee will be on the south coast tomorrow for public hearings on the introduction of Road Accident Benefit Scheme Bill.
The bill is intended to replace the Road Accident Fund Act and seeks to improve the administrative process of pay-outs to road accident victims.
"It should not be a once-off payment. Part of the things that we are realising is that people get money and they use that money as if tomorrow will never come. A year down the line, they have no [means of] payment.
"They may need medical attention, but have no money. We will be listening to the people - giving us ideas - so that we will have a better bill when we go to Parliament," The committee's chairperson, Dikeledi Magadzi said.
The public hearings will take place at the Uvongo Town Hall.
