KZN’s top cop recently lifted the lid on alleged corruption and collusion among top police officials and members of the judiciary.

The committee is expected to report to the National Assembly by the end of October.

Last week, the joint committees resolved to adopt a draft report recommending the formation of an ad hoc committee to thoroughly probe the allegations.

The parties that will sit on the ad hoc committee are the ANC, MK Party, the DA, EFF, IFP, ACTIONSA, PA and Freedom Front Plus.

Some of the members include EFF leader Julius Malema, DA MP's Ian Cameron and Glynnis Breytenbach and the ANC's Khusela Sangoni and Mdumiseni Ntuli, amongst others.

The committee will investigate allegations, amongst others, of the alleged unlawful decision by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu to disband the Political Killing Task Team.

The removal of 121 case dockets from the task team, allegedly at the direction of Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, and the alleged moratorium by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on filling vacancies within the police Crime Intelligence Unit, will also be scrutinised.
