Over 20 000 pink eye cases in KZN

The Department of Health in KwaZulu-Natal says the number of pink eye cases in the province has risen to over 20 000.
"Most of the cases are in the eThekwini District, there are 20 650 cases. Then there are about nine cases in the Ugu District," says KZN Health Head of Department, Sandile Tshabalala.
"There are about 90 cases in uMkhanyakude District Municipality and there are other cases in King Cetshwayo District Municipality and uMgungundlovu District Municipality."

He says a team are working o track down the initial source of the outbreak.
"What has worried us is that we are unable at the moment to point exactly where the initial source was. It has spread all over, however, the exact source and initial infections are not very clear."
