According to the organisation he was taken into custody shortly after leaving a Johannesburg-based radio station, where he'd gone for an interview in the afternoon.

His arrest comes few days after Soweto resident Victor Ramerafe opened a criminal case against him.

This after Ramerafe's home was ransacked at the weekend, allegedly by Operation Dudula members, who believed he was a drug dealer.

During his conversation with Sizwe on Kaya Drive yesterday,  Lux denied that he is part of a vigilante group.

He said he belongs to a joint operation fighting issues facing the community.

"Anything you see that has to do with Operation Dudula, you always see a common insight. We always have an operation that is planned with the SAPS and metro police and all our marches.

"All our arrests were successful, SAPS handle the arrests. How is that being a vigilante? But people go on with it and do not want to be honest by the fact that there is a gap in our country that no one wants to address."

Meanwhile, Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Sello's explained why the group's leader Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini was arrested.

"A person of interest was taken in for questioning last night with regards to a housebreaking case that was opened on Wednesday at Dobsonville and is expected to appear before a magistrate's court soon."
