Only a court of law can reverse ICASA ruling
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
ICASA says its ruling that the SABC reverse a decision banning footage of violent protests can only be reviewed by a court of law.
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa says it made the ruling because the public broadcaster's move impacts on licensing and broadcast conditions.
SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng said earlier this week that it was prepared to go all the way to the Constitutional Court to defend its decision.
The public broadcaster has to confirm in writing within seven days if it's accepted the ruling.
ICASA's Paseka Maleka says they have to uphold licensing conditions.
"They have to go to court for them to get the review of our decision, that is what is there for them incase they do not want to accept the ruling" he said.
