One KZN municipality with limited electricity access: Stats SA
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Stats SA says many households are ready to be electrified, but load shedding has put a damper on its connection plans.

Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke says it's one of the concerns researchers picked up while gathering data for Census 2022.
The results show that the country's population has grown to 62 million, with 12. 1 million people found in KwaZulu-Natal.
Maluleke says in KZN, there's only one municipality with limited access to electricity.
"As of 2022, almost the whole country is sitting between on 80 and 100% and indeed, only one municipality, Emadlangeni fell below 80%.
"So, Mr President, it is not my space to say it, but if we could solve the load-shedding challenge, the people are already ready to switch on the light at any given moment because the infrastructure is there."
President Cyril Ramaphosa received the findings on Tuesday.
Ramaphosa said he's pleased to see positive changes in the education sector.
"We are encouraged by the progress in the report represented by the statistician-general.
"We note, for example, the number of people that are older than 20 years, with no education, has significantly decreased, and this is one of the most important measures of the education proficiency of a country. For a country to develop, it needs well-educated people. "
