October polls candidate nomination deadline nears
The deadline for parties and
independent candidates to submit their candidate lists to the Electoral
Commission of South Africa is drawing near.
The Commission's made a final call to them as it moves forward with preparations for the October local government elections.
To date, 25 political parties and 50 independent candidates have submitted their details to the IEC.

Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Mawethu Mosery says parties that miss the deadline for payments and submissions will be disqualified.
"We are on the final stretch for candidate nomination, which closes on Monday, 23 August.
"We are encouraging all those who intend contest to submit their candidates as per the gazetted election timetable."
