Ntuli challenges Steenhuisen to a series of public debates

The Democratic Alliance (DA) leadership candidate, Mbali Ntuli, has challenged the party's interim Leader, John Steenhuisen, to four public debates.
She was briefing the media LIVE on her Facebook page on Monday morning – as the party heads into the final months before voting for a new leader.
Ntuli - who is a Member of Provincial Legislature (MPL) in KwaZulu-Natal - believes in order to keep up with democratic liberal practices, a public debate with Steenhuisen is necessary.
"I think it is also important for people to know what is the contrast between Steenhuisen and I as the candidates for the top job at this party.

"And I think it is also fair to say that anybody who seeks to be the leader of the opposition has a credible position as somebody who can be viewed as prospective president of our country.
"And therefore it is certainly within the public interest to conduct a series of public debates, at least four that are televised.
"I think members of the DA and the public are tired of politicians who operate behind closed doors and under the cover of darkness," adds Ntuli.
