Ntshavheni says EFF court bid won’t stop tax proposals
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says the EFF's court action won't stop Cabinet from proposing tax increases in the budget.

During his third budget last week, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said the general fuel levy would be raised by 16c per litre for petrol and 15c for diesel after scrapping a proposed VAT rate hike that was vigorously opposed.
On Thursday, the EFF filed an urgent application in the Western Cape High Court to block the new tax increase.
The party and the DA successfully challenged the proposed VAT increase in court.

At a post-Cabinet briefing in Cape Town Ntshavheni said the EFF had the right to go to court.
" As the government, shortly we will come back to what the implications are of the fuel levy and fuel prices in the country, as we try to mitigate the high cost of living in the country. Fuel levy has been part of the budget of South Africa since time immemorial."
