Nquthu by-election: Police monitoring voting stations
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Ward 14 residents have begun casting their votes at poll stations in the Nquthu Local Municipality.
It's been a smooth start at the voting station in Mgazi Secondary School.
Just outside the school, the IFP, EFF and ANC have set up stands with members singing in a campaign style as a last minute means to influence voters.
There is also a police presence to ensure effective intervention should anything disrupt the voting process.

This by-election comes as Nquthu's council was dissolved after political squabbles repeatedly got in the way of office-bearers being elected following last year's local elections.
In August, the IFP secured 15 seats on the council and the ANC got 14. Both parties are confident of victory today.
The IFP's Joshua Mazibuko says they are hoping for a fair election which will see a victory for the party while the ANC's Mdumiseni Ntuli says the party's provincial leadership has been based in the area full-time over the last few weeks as they are serious about winning the municipality.
