No need for panic over drought: Ugu Municipality
Updated | By Newswatch
The Ugu District Municipality has assured residents on the south coast that despite being seriously affected by drought - there is no need to panic.
This comes after so-called water shedding was implemented there during the festive season. Areas affected are Shelly Breach, Uvongo, Manaba, Gamalakhe and Oslo Beach.
Ugu spokesperson France Dlamini says they've had to ration the water supply due to a high demand in certain areas.
Dlamini says people have to save water as every drop counts.
"Ugu district municipality is amongst municipalities in the province that are experiencing drought conditions. At the same time though we are saying currently we do not have a situation of water shortage", he said.
