Nkadibeng: State of disaster on energy 'made a difference'

The government insists
that the national state of disaster implemented to deal with our energy crisis
has made a difference for the better.
The extraordinary measure, which came under mounting criticism since it was introduced in February, was lifted on Wednesday.
Announcing its termination Cooperative Governance Minister Thembi Nkadimeng said that the state of disaster allowed for quick responses and interventions during high levels of load shedding.
"By applying the disaster you unlock quite a lot of things, the building of tankers in schools by municipalities to supply water, the same tankers to hospitals to supply water to patients.

"Boreholes without necessarily following the process or even reviewing the budget, so it's not a disaster looking only at. It also had a good impact on health and social services."
