NHLS confirms patient data not leaked after breach

The National Health Laboratory Service says all patient data remains secure despite a security breach.

The service suffered a cyberattack on Saturday.
All its IT systems have been down since then.
The lab service's Mzi Gcukumana says some sections, including parts of the backup server, have been deleted.

He says they working to rebuild the affected areas.
Gcukumana says investigations have revealed a ransomware virus was used to target specific points within their system.
"Preliminary investigation suggests that our Enterprise Resource Planning (Oracle) environment and Laboratory Information System (LIS) (TrakCare) database and our CDW are not affected. Therefore, no patient data has been lost or compromised. All patient data is safe."
