Newlands East baby case: Mother now allowed to visit child
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A Newlands East mother accused of throwing her newborn baby girl into a storm water drain, is now allowed to see the child.
The infant, who's been named Sibani-Sethu Gabrielle, which means Our Light - was brought to the surface during a dramatic three-hour long rescue on Baracuda Road in February.
She was stuck some seven metres down the drain.
Her 32-year-old mother, who was granted bail earlier this year, was back in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Her attorney, Jacques Botha says they made an application to relax her bail conditions, as his client desperately wanted to see the baby.

"Our application was brought in order to allow her to see the unnamed infant trial. The matter was adjourned for the 30th of July," Botha said.
