New KZN Hawks boss while Booysen matter still hangs
Updated | By Zongile Nhlapho
Major-General Jabulani Zikhali has been appointed the new head of the KwaZulu-Natal Hawks.
In a statement released earlier, the crime-fighting unit says it hopes Zikhali's appointment will bring stability within the unit at provincial level.
This as the Durban High Court two months ago lifted the latest suspension of KZN Hawks boss Johan Booysen, ordering that he be allowed to return to work.
On that same morning, Booysen confirmed to Newswatch he was already back at his desk.
But spokeperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi says as far as the Hawks are concerned, Booysen remains suspended.
"The matter on General Booysen is [being handled] in court. We have made an appeal but that appeal has not been finalised so we cannot talk much about it until it is dealt with," he said.
