Updated | By Puseletso Petersen, Jarryd Subroyen
Government authorities say the construction of new houses in Mariannridge near Pinetown - is due to start next month at a cost of at least R50-million.

Violent protests over housing and land invasions have erupted in the area in recent weeks.
Some residents have also complained the houses they are living in are not properly built.
KZN MEC for Human Settlements, Ravi Pillay visited the area today to hear the community's concerns.
"Land invasions of this nature provoke and mobilises a whole range [of issues] and it becomes a recipe for conflict. It must be taken seriously. It's not just a case of thinking that you can deal with eviction in a narrow way," he says.
Pillay says the department has reached an agreement with independent contractors to begin building the 500 new homes.
