New Home Affairs branch in Pavilion 'to bring some relief'
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says he hopes the new branch at Durban's Pavilion Shopping Centre will help cut the long queues at the Umngeni Road offices.

The Westville branch offers ID and passport services on appointment.
Speaking at the official handover on Monday, Motsoaledi revealed that in the first full week of operation, it processed 278 IDs and 141 passports, with some documents ready for collection.
He said they are working to take the pressure off some of the country's overburdened home affairs offices.

"Two offices, one is run in Johannesburg and the second is Umngeni - they are headaches. I was about to conclude that their managers are grossly incompetent only to discover that actually those offices are over subscribed they just get more and more people coming to them everyday and those people need services.
"With Pavilion we are trying to solve the problem of Umngeni Road because it is not very far from there, not that we are not trying to improve them, but we believe that giving them a batter facility will actually help a lot."
