New DA leader elected in Eastern Cape

The Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape elected a new leader at its Provincial Congress in East London.
Nqaba Bhanga has been elected as Eastern Cape Leader of the opposition.
"While the election was a close one, a clear winner emerged by a majority of votes. The vote and the vote count proceeded without a single query, objection or contest, and that is testament to the DA commitment to free and fair elections," says the DA's Anchen Dreyer.
Bhanga takes over from Athol Trollip, who is the mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay.
Dreyer says the DA is indebted to Trollip, as he now focuses on bringing increasing change to the city region.
Bobby Stevenson and Terence Fritz have been elected as Deputy Provincial Leaders.
Andrew Whitfield is the new Provincial Chairperson while Yusuf Cassim, Kobus Botha and Marshall Von Buchenroder have been elected as Deputy Provincial Chairpersons.
