New Covid-19 cases rise by over 10 000 as KZN remains epicentre

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 2 757 175.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Saturday evening that 10 173 new coronavirus cases had been recorded since its previous report.
This increase represents an 18% positivity rate.
The majority of new cases are from KwaZulu-Natal, followed by the Western Cape and Eastern Cape.
The death toll has climbed to 81 461, with 274 new coronavirus-related deaths reported.

By Saturday evening, close to 12 million vaccines had been administered nationwide, with 62 391 vaccines administered over the last 24 hours.
